For Bangladesh to qualify for the 2027 World Test Championship final, they need to collect 47 points from their remaining six matches. A win is worth 12 points, meaning Bangladesh will need to win both of their home series. Those series are against England and the West Indies.
Bangladesh could target two wins against the West Indies by preparing spin-friendly pitches, but defeating England in both matches will not be easy. To strengthen their position and secure their place, Bangladesh will need to win one of their remaining two matches.
Mushtaq Ahmed has backed Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the World Test Championship final, saying, “We are in a very good position at the moment. If we play good cricket and maintain our belief, we can move forward. At international level, matches can only be won when you are not worried about losing. As coaches, we have to change that mindset. The credit goes to all the players, selectors and stakeholders because they are on the same page and believe that we can now challenge any team.”

Sri Lanka are seventh with six matches, one win, two losses, three draws, 24 points and a points percentage of 33.33. The West Indies are eighth with 12 matches, two wins, eight losses, two draws, 30 points and a points percentage of 20.83. Pakistan are ninth with nine matches, two wins, seven losses, no draws, five points and a points percentage of 4.63.
With six matches still remaining, Bangladesh’s push for a place in the World Test Championship final will depend on how effectively they convert their remaining opportunities into points, particularly in their home series against England and the West Indies.
